MACEDO DO PESO + PESO + VALCERTO (MOGADOURO)

MACEDO DO PESO

Macedo do Peso is a village belonging to the parish of São Martinho do Peso, municipality of Mogadouro.
It had 77 inhabitants in 2011
In Macedo do Peso there is a magical place where the mystical of the ancestors transports us to other times.
Magical for the simplicity of the landscape surroundings, but especially for a beautiful medieval bridge that fits into the landscape in a magnificent way and that there resists time.
The Macedo stream passes through there, which gives the place more charm when good water flows.
Interestingly, this stream runs northwards, skirting the mountains and hills, zigzagging at the bottom of valleys, until it meets the river Maçãs. The river Maças has its source in neighboring Spain, in the “de la Culebra” mountain range, in the province of Zamora. In turn, the river Maçãs flows into the river Sabor.
This trestle bridge rests on a single broken arch. It was built in masonry and shale and is well estimated.
There is a beautiful recess in the rock that once served as a shelter for many people.
